2025 Kiwi Cane

Friday 14th March - Sunday 16th March 2025

Ruapehu Ski Club Lodge, Ohakune

ANNOUNCEMENT

We're really excited to announce that we will be holding "Kiwi Cane" again in 2025. In the longer term we plan to alternate Kiwi Cane with Cressy Cane in Australia, possibly with a year off in between. But given the success of the 2024 Kiwi Cane event, and to keep the ball rolling in NZ, we will keep Kiwi Cane running Annually for now.

The 2025 Kiwi Cane format will be similar format to last year, with full in house accomodation and day package attendance options available. There will be a mix of classroom presentations, casting different rods, hands-on rodmaking and plenty of time for open discussion and socialising.

We are now seeking submissions from anyone wanting to present. Tapers, methods, or bamboo related fishing topics? Email or use the Contacts page to let me know. If you have a special rod that you want to bring and show, let me know, and I can add it to the Rod Library. Or just bring it along as a surprise!

Of course, we're looking forward to seeing people who attended last year's event again. But newcomers are very welcome too, whether you have any experience with bamboo rods yet or not. Feel free to spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in coming.

The 2025 event will be held in March, a month earlier than last year, to increase the fishing options and opportunities around the gathering.

We'll again have a full suite of rodmaking tools and bamboo available for ad hoc demonstrations and for newcomers to try their hand at rodmaking techniques. And I'll also have my extensive rodmaking Book and DVD Library onsite for perusal.

You can read more about the location, venue and fishing options on the "About" page.
